Birth of an Idea

My wife and I have been successful business people for the last 30 years. We both grew up on farms and know what it is like to work hard and take risks. We have been blessed.

When I found an answer to my pool problems (the Leafinator™) we decided to file for a patent and bring it to market. Our oldest son agreed to join us in this new venture and add his engineering and fluid dynamic skills to his parents' business skills.

Our company is wholly owned by Roger, Janice, and Brian Pamperin.

What follows is an explanation of how the Leafinator™ came about.

Our pool was finished in August of 1988. My battle started when the trees and bushes recovered from the trauma of pool construction. My pool is surrounded by: Crepe Myrtles, a huge Fruitless Mulberry, Elm, Mimosa, and English Ivy crawling over rocks to hang directly into the pool water. My neighbors have Oak, Pine, and Pecan. Picture the rain forest without monkeys or parrots but millions of squirrels.

I tried everything to keep the pool from turning into a Jurassic Park swamp every fall. Annual threats to either chain saw the trees or fill the pool with sand was met with crossed arms and a tapping foot … not going to happen!

Failed attempts included a floating pool cover - a disaster! Draining the pool - a bigger disaster! Trying to keep up on a daily basis - impossible! Waiting until they all dropped - Can you picture aligators in green scum?

I found a web site that said the greatest invention of the last 100 years to fight leaves in a pool is the net on a pole! That's like saying the greatest invention in boat propulsion in the last 100 years is the paddle!

After many, many failures, I finally hit on an idea that worked! After getting a working model put together the thought crossed my mind that I wasn't the only pool owner that had this problem. After a patent search indicated this was an original idea, I applied for a patent (pending).

My son's influence is quite evident, especially the unique and efficient shape of the jet nozzles. The laminar flow allows even weak water flow to make the Leafinator™ work.

The Leafinator™ is a serious tool to make pool ownership more rewarding. I believe that after using the Leafinator™ in your pool you will wonder why it took so long for someone to find a solution to this universal problem. Now someone has!

Thank you for your interest.
